Always get police and emergency services on the scene. A police report is important documentation.

Even if you feel fine, see a doctor as soon as possible. Some injuries — especially concussions and soft tissue injuries — are not immediately apparent.

Take photos of the scene, all vehicles involved, your injuries, road conditions, and any relevant signage.

If anyone saw the accident, ask for their name and phone number.

Do not apologize or discuss the accident in detail with the other party or with insurance adjusters.

Report the accident, but do not give a recorded statement without speaking to an attorney first.
